Exercise Truthful Sword 2016 ended on 25 April. It was an exercise of firsts. Not only was it the first exercise with Lieutenant General Michiel van der Laan as our Commander, it was also for the first time that the Land Command & Control Information System (LC2IS) was used by the participants. The planners used their TOPFAS tool for the first time and the staff gained experience in the modus operandi of the Maritime Component Command and the Air Component Command. All these firsts are important for the Corps’ conversion from Land Component Command to Joint Task Force Headquarters (Land) in 2017.
The next step in becoming Joint Task Force Headquarters (Land) is Exercise Ultimate Sword 2016 in December. This exercise will focus on the deployment phase of an operation and will be executed in Poland and in the Corps’ hometown Münster.
